The latest crime data for Nueces County show that there were 274 violent crimes and 918 property crimes in 2015. Compared to the previous year, violent crime rate rose by 68.1% while property crime rate increased by 4.6%. A closer look at violent crime statistics reveals that the county recorded 1 murder, 10 rapes, 251 aggravated assaults, and 12 robberies in 2015. Larceny was the most prevalent property crime with 691 cases while burglary came second with 180 incidents. There were also 45 vehicle thefts and 4 cases of arson.

Compared to 2014 crime data, burglary was the only crime that did not record a year-on-year increase. Burglary rate in Nueces County declined by 12.9%. While the county recorded one case of murder in 2015, there was none in 2014. However, there were higher rates of rape (42.9%), aggravated assault (73.1%), robbery (9.1%), larceny (8%), vehicle theft (55.2%), and arson (300%).

The Texas Department of Public Safety (TxDPS) is the agency responsible for maintaining an up-to-date list of sex offenders in all the counties of the state.
