Travis County civil court cases are handled by the District Civil Courts, Associate Courts, Child Support Courts, County courts, and family law courts. The Justice of the Peace Precinct and Small Claims Courts also have jurisdiction to hear civil cases.

Travis County Criminal Court Case Records

Travis County criminal court case records are official records that are generated in criminal case proceedings and deposited with the clerk of the court. Criminal court cases may include charges against offenders who are involved in conduct that is perceived to be harmful and endangering the property, safety, and moral well-being of any member of the public. Criminal cases are between the State and individual(s)/ entities because they are usually filed by state prosecutors against a defendant who may be an individual or private entity. Criminal cases in Travis County include misdemeanors and felony cases.

  • Misdemeanors: These refer to offenses that are so classified by Texas State Code and are punishable by not more than a one-year jail term and/ or a fine.
