Crime Numbers
The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) provides crime statistics for all of the state’s counties. In 2018, Angelina County had a total of 46 violent crimes including 1 murder, and 45 rapes. There were also 2,251 property crimes comprising 20 robberies, 187 assaults, 474 burglaries, 1,420 larcenies, and 150 auto thefts.
Between 2014 and 2018, murders (-66.7%), robberies (-64.9%), assaults (-10%), burglaries (-36.8%), and larcenies (-32.9%) went down in the county. However, auto theft increased by 19% in the same period. The DPS did not report rape numbers for 2014.
Criminal Records
The Texas Department of Public Safety provides criminal records through its Criminal History Search. Sign up for an individual or company Crime Records Service (CRS) account, and purchase search credits to access these records. Each search costs $3 and allows the requester to search for a name and view one matching record. Searches that don’t return any results also use up search credits. Make payment for search credits by credit card or by check.
Search credits purchased by credit card cost an additional 2.25%, making a total of $3.07 per search credit. Every search credit purchase transaction costs an extra 25 cents. Search credits bought using a credit card will immediately be usable. There are additional fees for search credits purchased by mails. Angelina County also allows the public to search law enforcement records through its Judicial Web Search. Select Arrest Warrant Service from the Incident Type drop-down menu. Records are also accessible by searching for Address or Location.
Angelina County allows members of the public to submit Open Records Requests for all county records, including arrest reports. Submit a record request online or by mail. Use the Web Portal Submission to make an online request. Select Sheriff from the Destination drop-down menu. The form requires a First and Last Name, Mailing Address, E-Mail Address, City and Zip Code.

The Texas Department of Safety maintains a public database of sex offenders on its Sex Offender Registry. Using the Search by County function, select Angelina from the County drop-down menu. Search results include biometric details and specific offenses committed.
The Sheriff’s Office runs the Angelina County Detention Center and provides a public list of all current inmates as the Angelina County Jail Roster. The roster contains specific information about the offenders, including Age, Race, Ethnicity, Gender, Offense, and the Number of Days Confined.
Family and friends may fund an inmate’s account through the NCIC Inmate Communication’s website, or by calling (800) 943-2189. The service allows inmates to receive a Phone Deposit or a Commissary Deposit.
Inmates may receive guests on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays according to the Visitation Schedule. Inmates are allowed a maximum of 2 visits per week, excluding attorney visits. Visitors must present state-issued photo identifications and may visit for a maximum of 30 minutes. The Angelina County Jail does not entertain contact visits.
