According to the 2018 crime statistics report compiled by the department, the total number of crimes reported in Bastrop County was 1,479, comprising of 233 violent crimes and 1,246 property crimes. While violent crimes reported included 5 murders, 55 rapes, 26 robberies, and 147 aggravated assaults, the property crimes reported included 314 burglaries, 831 larcenies, and 101 auto thefts.
