The Texas Department of Public Safety compiles and manages statistical crime data for cities and counties. According to data published in 2021, the county recorded 1,306 crimes. Larceny-theft was the most common crime with 742 reported incidents while assault was the most common violent crime. Compared to published data for 2016, total crimes increased by 0.9 percent. Burglary cases grew from 270 incidents to 271 incidents while the number of larceny cases increased by 5. Conversely incidents of robbery and assault dropped between both years.

Brazoria County Sex Offender Information
In addition, the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), provides online access to a state-wide sex offender registry. Residents of the county can search for registrants by name. Searches can also be filtered to reveal offenders within a map address or offenders enrolled or working at institutes of higher education. How to Get Brazoria County Inmate Information
Information on persons currently held in state correctional inmate facilities can be obtained by contacting the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ). Brazoria County Court Records
Brazoria County's court system consists of multiple district courts, constitutional county courts, county courts at law, justice courts, and municipal courts. Each of these courts has different jurisdictions over different cases. District courts have general jurisdiction over civil and criminal cases. In addition, the Brazoria County district clerk provides an online record request form that members of the public can use to find felony records. How to Get Divorce Records
Eligible parties can obtain copies of a divorce decree by contacting the Brazoria County district clerk at 111 E. Locust, Ste. 500, Angleton. The office processes same day requests for walk0in applications. Residents can also obtain copies via mail by sending a request to:

Obtaining Divorce Verifications
The Texas Department of State Health Services Vital Statistics Unit maintains records of divorces in Brazoria County and other parts of the state. The Brazoria County clerk office issues copies of birth and death certificates for events that occurred in the county. The office charges $23.00 for each certified copy of a birth record. Death records cost $21.00 for the first certified copy and $4.00 for each additional copy.
